Project Estimate: 2-4 Hours

Every homeowner faces this problem, it can turn your beautiful bathroom shower into a nightmare no one wants to use..... It's Mold covering your once white caulk.

Now don't be afraid of re-caulking! It's a much simpler task that when done with discipline is super easy.

Items you will need

  1. Flat-head screwdriver

  2. Disposable cup or bowl

  3. Silicone Bathroom caulk

  4. Paper towels or a rag

  5. Vacuum

  6. Trashcan

  7. Sponge

  8. Scissors

Step 1. Removing Old Caulk Once you have all of your supplies ready and some good music playing (I listened to the Jurassic Park soundtrack) take your flat-head screwdriver and push it between the shower wall and the old caulk. It will peel off really easy but it does make a mess.

Step 2. Preparing The Wall After all of the old caulk is removed, Place the majority of the old caulk in a trashcan using your hands or paper towels and then vacuum up the remaining pieces. Grab your sponge and use the adhesive side to clean the area you are going to re-caulk.

Step 3. Applying The New Caulk Fill your cup or bowl with water, and then open your new silicone with your scissors. Pick a starting wall and slowly squeeze the silicone out onto a small section of the seam. Silicone spreads out so don't put too much on to start. Now use your finger and spread the caulk down the seam. To smooth the caulk, dip your finger into the water and apply liberally. Make sure not to apply too much water as that will make your caulk runny, Dry your fingers with your paper towel or rag if necessary.

Step 4. Clean Up Your Area and Celebrate! Clean up your bathroom and then check the back of your silicone to see how long it takes to dry.

Congratulations! You re-caulked your shower. Now sit back and admire your handiwork
